With deeply saddened hearts, we mourn the passing of our beloved Dr. Ahmed Saleh Agha of Ponca City.
While residing in Ponca City, Dr. Agha was an active member of the Stillwater Muslim community. He used to come to Stillwater with Dr. Mamdouh Salama to participate in many activities. At some point, he served as the chairman of the ISS.
Dr. Agha was a dedicated pediatrician who practiced in Ponca City but cared for many members of our community.
At this time, arrangements for the Janazah prayer have not yet been announced. We humbly ask everyone to keep him in their prayers, seeking Allah’s mercy and forgiveness for our dear brother. May Allah grant him the highest place in Jannah and grant patience and solace to his family and all who loved him.
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,
I’m still particularly proud of the masthead design and, from my perspective, the quality of the topics I’ve covered. This week’s article on Yusuf (peace be upon him) is among the best I have written. As always, I invite you to read it, enjoy it, and—most importantly—contribute your thoughts, unless you want to keep seeing my picture beside every section!

Please find here some of the pictures that I and Br. Mishary Al Fouzan have taken with a DJI Mini 3 Pro Drone. The pictures are marvelous, yet we need more training 🙂
Please Enjoy
Following a recent citation from the city, several of our dedicated members took the “initiative” to clear the grass and weeds around the Islamic Center. They carried out the work manually, as recommended, ensuring the grounds look well-kept and welcoming.
Kudos to everyone who contributed to this effort. While some preferred to remain anonymous, please know that your hard work and generosity are deeply appreciated.
Thank you all for your support and work.

We are pleased to share that our brothers from Bangladesh have resumed their halaqa program. Each gathering concludes with a delightful dinner featuring a variety of traditional dishes. The rich flavors and unique blend of spices make this meal a truly memorable experience. We encourage everyone to join and take part in this wonderful evening of knowledge, fellowship, and hospitality.
We are currently experiencing a significant landscaping and maintenance issue at the Islamic Center. I am concerned that the ICS may be cited by the city due to the overgrowth of weeds and grass, which require attention. Addressing this issue will primarily involve a dedicated volunteer group of members to manually remove the unwanted vegetation. Mowing is not a suitable option, as these areas are not intended to be grass-covered; rather, they are landscaped with pebbles designed to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the property.
First group of pictures were taken for the N Washington street side.
Second group of pictures were taken on the dorms entrance side and near the kitchen.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,
Time truly flies! I can hardly believe it’s already been 10 weeks since I launched The Weekly and witnessed its growth. I’m particularly proud of the masthead design and, from my perspective, the quality of the topics I’ve covered. This week’s article on re-reading Surah Al-Baqarah is among the best I have ever written. As always, I invite you to read it, enjoy it, and—most importantly—contribute your thoughts, unless you want to keep seeing my picture beside every section!

Last week, on July 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, we were blessed to receive Dr. Saeed Ahmed, brother of the late Dr. Sameer Ahmed.
Dr. Saeed Ahmed’s visit was truly a heartwarming and memorable experience. Both Dr. Abo Basha and I were filled with joy and gratitude as we welcomed him. From the moment he arrived, there was a spirit of warmth and closeness that marked every moment of his stay. We spent much of our time in reflection and celebration, thankful for the opportunity to reconnect, share stories, and honor cherished memories. One of the most meaningful moments was our visit to the grave of his late brother, Dr. Sameer Ahmed—a time of quiet reverence and deep emotion as we stood in remembrance of a beloved soul whose presence continues to be deeply felt. Dr. Abdel Fattah Ali also joined us, adding to the solemnity and depth of the visit.
Over the course of the three days, we made the most of our time together. We strolled around Boomer Lake, enjoying the peaceful trails and the beauty of nature. Amid the calm water and gentle breeze, we spoke about life—its trials, its unexpected turns, and the enduring strength of family bonds. Our conversations also touched on the current state of affairs in Egypt. I was heartened to find that I was not alone in my concern; Dr. Saeed and I shared a deep and mutual care for our homeland.
Naturally, our talks extended to life in the U.S. compared to life in Germany, where Dr. Saeed now resides. The contrast between the two cultures sparked thoughtful reflections on community, daily rhythms, and the values that shape our lives. Those three days were a blessing—filled with meaning, connection, and the quiet joy of being in the company of someone so dear.
I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Abo Basha for his kindness and generosity throughout the visit.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
Welcome to the first edition of our revitalized weekly bulletin! This project is a revival of a cherished tradition from the 1990s when the Islamic Center in Stillwater regularly published a similar bulletin, which unfortunately ceased around 1997. I hope to breathe new life into this valuable community resource.
Each week, I’ll aim to include news, upcoming events, important announcements, and articles relevant to our community, the city of Stillwater, or any other topics of general interest. This bulletin’s primary purpose is to connect people, encourage more community activities, and provide a platform for members to share advertisements with others in the Muslim community. For this bulletin to truly thrive, your contributions are essential. I warmly invite all members to consider writing for us.
It’s essential to note that this work builds upon the efforts of members of the Stillwater Muslim community in the 1990s, notably Dr. Mamdouh Salama and Dr. Ahmed Abo Basha. They were instrumental in approaching the Stillwater News Press to cover Muslim community activities and Islamic celebrations—an initiative I’ve decided to revive almost 30 years later. It’s truly magnificent to witness how Islam rewards people for actions they initiated, even when they’re unaware of their lasting impact.
Please find the first edition of the bulletin here.
The first day of the Hijri month of Dul’ Hajjah starts at the Maghrib of Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
Dr. Hatim Hegab proudly celebrated some of the graduates of our Muslim community.
Dr. Hatim Hegab is shown here celebrating with with both Mr. Ahmad Baha’ (MS civil engineering) and Mohammad AsSalem (MS Engineering) on their graduation day.

The Islamic Center of Stillwater (ICS) proudly celebrated the graduation of nine members of our Muslim community.
Several graduates earned their master’s degrees, and one completed his first undergraduate degree.
May Allah bless all of our graduates and continue to bless our community with success and unity.

The Pakistani Students Association (PSA) fondly remembers our dear brother Tawsif Ismael, who sadly passed away in August 2024. His presence, kindness, and dedication continue to live on in our hearts.
During our recent gathering, we were honored by the attendance of Tawsif’s two academic advisers, who graciously joined us and awarded him his master’s degree posthumously—a touching and heartfelt moment for all in attendance.
The event was filled with warmth, delicious food, and joyful conversations. Everyone enjoyed the gathering, the reception, and the friendly atmosphere that PSA is so well known for.
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the PSA for their warm welcome and thoughtful invitation. Your kindness and sense of community are truly appreciated.
May Brother Tawsif’s soul rest in Jannatul Firdaws, and may his memory continue to inspire us all.
Over the past few years, I have sadly witnessed a deeply troubling shift in the behavior and atmosphere within our community. There has been an unprecedented rise in actions and attitudes that contradict the very essence of Islamic ethics and values. While I understand that people come from diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds, this cannot justify the lack of basic Islamic principles—something I’ve seen across all age groups, both young and old. Among the most disturbing behaviors were deliberate acts of disrespect within the House of Allah, including individuals intentionally blocking the toilets—an appalling lack of reverence. Even more shocking was the level of hatred and animosity that surfaced—unlike anything I’ve seen in my 44 years of service. Children, influenced perhaps by their parents, have echoed disturbing remarks and questions that left me speechless.
I have also witnessed unethical practices, such as individuals exploiting the mental health conditions of others for financial gain—an action that is not only immoral but completely against the teachings of Islam. On the managerial side, I have repeatedly found that important decisions were made without consulting or even informing me, despite my role. Multiple groups—both in-person and online—have been formed, involving individuals who have never once participated in the internal affairs of the ISS or, more importantly, the ICS.
Hatred, jealousy, and prejudice have, unfortunately, taken root—qualities that should have no place in any religious setting, let alone an Islamic Center. This toxic environment has been emotionally and spiritually draining, making the last few years especially disheartening.
It is from this context and reflection on recent years that I now continue with the rest of my message:
Since everything in this life (Dunyah) must come to an end, I, Dr. Basha—General Director, CEO, and Spokesman of the ISS, the legal entity representing the Islamic Center in Stillwater (ICS), and the sole former chairman of the fundraising committee responsible for securing all funding for the construction of the current ICS facilities—hereby announce the following:
As of today, Friday, April 4th, 2025, and after 44 years of dedicated service to this community in various capacities, I have made, after much reflection and sincere consultation with close friends and honest community members, a very difficult decision. I have decided to step back from all operational roles within the ISS. Starting today, I will serve as an observer and advisor to the ISS.
In shaa’ Allah, I will now devote all my time to Dawah activities of the ICS, both within and beyond its premises. I will continue to use my office on the second floor to coordinate and manage outreach and Dawah efforts.
It has truly been a blessing and a privilege to serve this community, this masjid, and the Islamic Center for the greater part of my life—with the help and support of Allah (SWT), and the sincere efforts of many devoted brothers, to whom I am deeply grateful. With Allah’s guidance and support, I will continue to serve in the Dawah mission of this masjid, this Stillwater Embassy of Islam.
Additionally, as of today, Dr. Hatem Hegab will continue to focus fully on Dawah efforts, as his workload and dedication to spreading the message of Islam only grow. Dr. Hegab’s office at the ICS has become a hub of productive activity, yielding more work for the sake of Allah than many committees combined—work he has carried out single-handedly, totally financed by his own money, with the blessing and help of Allah (SWT). I testify to this sincerely for the sake of Allah.
Dr. Hegab’s contributions include the publication of hundreds of articles on Islam and the establishment of one of the most informative websites managed by any Islamic center. He has been updating his website, icstillwater.org, on an almost daily basis, documenting the educational, outreach, and community activities of the ICS. Since 2005—nearly 20 years—he has served both the ISS and ICS in various roles. Walhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah, he has helped maintain the independence and integrity of this institution, which I now pass on.
I encourage each and every one of you to continue supporting and working for this Islamic Center. It always needs your involvement, your volunteering, and your energy. This Center was founded by international students, funded by international students, and has largely been operated by and for international students. It was built by international students, and it is your active participation that will shape its future. May we not lose it just as we lost the Andalus.
May Allah (SWT) reward everyone who has supported this journey, and may He continue to bless and guide this community.

Alhamdulillah, I have received numerous emails and messages expressing interest in an Arabic version of the Assiddiq Online Islamic School (AOS). Among them are my beloved brothers who have deeply appreciated the school’s content and vision and offered to spread the word among our mosque visitors back home. Notably, two dear brothers from Mississauga, Canada, also reached out to share their admiration for AOS and strongly encouraged the launch of an Arabic version to better serve new Arabic-speaking families and communities.
Today, it is with great joy and gratitude that I officially announce: an Arabic version of the Assiddiq Online Islamic School will be launched soon, in shaa Allah! This new branch of the school is being developed specifically for Arabic-speaking students and families who wish to benefit from Islamic education in their native language.
The Arabic version will mirror the current AOS curriculum, offering the same core materials with the same commitment to clarity, authenticity, and quality. In addition, we plan to expand the content for both the English and Arabic versions over time, in shaa Allah, to further enrich the educational experience for all our students.
We ask Allah to bless this endeavor, to make it a source of benefit and guidance for our communities, and to reward all those who contributed ideas, support, and encouragement.
Stay tuned for updates on the official launch date and registration details!
BaarakAllahu feekum.
Was-salaamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh.
Members of our community who wish to have their children excused from school tomorrow and need an official excuse letter can find it here.
Eid prayer will begin at 9:00 AM sharp and will be led by Dr. Fouad Saad.
Following the prayer, we will have our traditional Eid celebrations, starting with Iftar (prepared by our dedicated volunteers).
A social gathering will follow, providing an opportunity to share the joy of Eid with family and friends.
Children’s activities will take place in the Multipurpose Hall, where inflatables and fun games will be ready to welcome them.
May Allah accept your fasting, charity, and all your good deeds. Eid Mubarak! 🎉
The month of Shawwal for the year 1446 Hijri, marking Eid al-Fitr, will begin on Sunday, March 30, 2025.
This announcement has been made by the Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA) on its official webpage, based on astronomical calculations. The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) has also confirmed the same date using the same method.

“And say (O Muhammad pbuh), ‘Do deeds! Allah will see your deeds, and (so will) His Messenger and the believers. And you will be brought back to the All-Knower of the unseen and the seen, and He will inform you of what you used to do.’”
(Qur’an 9:105)
Allah, the Almighty, has spoken the truth.
I recently came across this commemorative plaque, which brought back a remarkable piece of history.
From what I know about Dr. Basha, he arrived in the United States in January 1982 and did not come directly to OSU-Stillwater. Yet, receiving such an appreciation award in 1986—only four years after being in Stillwater—is a truly outstanding and unparalleled achievement.
This plaque stands as a testament to the impact an international university student can have. Despite students being occupied with studies, workloads, and personal ambitions, they should remain deeply committed to carrying the message of the Prophet, pbuh, (convey from me even one verse) and advocating for the concerns of their faith and Ummah. The plaque is a symbol of initiative, dedication, and active participation in the Muslim Students’ Association (MSA) on campus.
The Plaque also works as a reminder that the OSU campus, as free as it is, is a good place for students’ activities and how effective they are. So far we haven’t seen much of these commemorative appreciation plaques.
Moreover, the plaque reflects the enduring role of the mosque—past, present, and future—as a sacred space for worship, prayer, religious education, and volunteerism. Yet above all the center serves as a beacon of da’wah, welcoming non-Muslims to learn about Islam in a spirit of openness and dialogue.
Our responsibility is to ensure that the Islamic Center remains an embassy of Islam, radiating with the light of da’wah. It should continue to be a hub for spreading the message of the prophet Muhammad, the message of Islam—free from any other distracting activities whether personal, communal, or religious affiliations. The Islamic Center has always belonged to those who sincerely serve Allah, upholding trust, fulfilling responsibilities, standing against falsehood, and enjoining what is good while forbidding what is evil through all lawful and rightful means. The Islamic Center will always do so.
While the center is open to all—Muslims and non-Muslims alike—we, Muslims, have to look inside ourselves and pause for some time to fix intentions and be righteous and sincere custodians of this sacred space, a blessing from Allah as many of our alumni told us after leaving to other states and universities. We should work to look and act as ambassadors to this beautiful faith.
Allah alone is the Protector, the One whose help is sought, and the One who grants success in all that pleases Him. May He grant us the sincerity and steadfastness to uphold this responsibility. Ameen.
Let me conclude with two statements from distinguished alumni who dedicated their efforts to serving this place and contributed to the mosque in various ways—some of whom continue to do so.
The first is a statement by Dr. Mamdouh Salama. Although I never met him personally, I heard it from Dr. Basha during a discussion on da’wah: “Ahmed! If we leave the stage empty, others will fill it.” Just three days after hearing this statement, we launched our series of articles in The Stillwater NewsPress.
The second is a profound reflection I once heard from Dr. Abo Mufleh in conversation: “Hatim, this place (the mosque) is a mine of good deeds—one only needs to know how to excavate them.”

I am excited to announce the official launch of Assiddiq Online School, a project that has been in the works for quite some time. This school is designed to provide a comprehensive Islamic education, offering courses in Akeedah (faith/creed), Fiqh (jurisprudence), Hadith, Islamic Etiquette, Islamic Morals, Tafsir, and other essential subjects. In sha’a Allah, more content will be added soon.
The Islamic Center in Stillwater has always placed great emphasis on nurturing the children of its Muslim community. From its early days, the ICS has been committed to fostering the education of young Muslims, establishing Assiddiq Islamic School as a cornerstone of this mission. Over the years, many students have graduated from Assiddiq Islamic School, earning certificates in Quran and Hadith, and have gone on to become well-versed in Islamic teachings.

Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we will return.

It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of Dr. Samir Ahmed, distinguished Professor of Transportation Engineering at Oklahoma State University, who departed this life in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dr. Ahmed dedicated his career to advancing transportation engineering and inspiring countless students throughout his tenure at OSU.
I ask Almighty Allah to bestow His infinite mercy upon Dr. Ahmed and grant him the highest place in Jannah (Paradise). May Allah provide solace, strength, and patience to his bereaved family during this difficult time, and may they find comfort in the lasting impact of his work and the lives he touched.
Once finalized, funeral arrangements and Janaza prayer details will be communicated. Those wishing to express condolences to the family may do so during his Janaza prayer.
