مقولة عن سيدنا عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه تقاس بمقياس الذهب.
يقول سيدنا عمر رضي الله عنه:
ما وجـد أحد في نفسه كبرا إلا من مهانة يجدها في نفسه.
وفي هذه المقولة نجد أن أكثر من حولنا اليوم من الحُسّاد والحاقدين وأصحاب الصدور الخسيسة الضيقة أكثر ما يكونون إنما إظهار لمعادن نفوسهم وغث صدورهم وسواد قلوبهم وحقد أنفسهم. وهي أمور إنما ورثوها عن البيئة التي نشأوا فيها وتربوا على تقاليدها واستقوا سواد قلوبهم منها.
A saying by our master Umar ibn Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, is measured by the standard of gold. He says:
“No one finds arrogance within himself except due to a sense of humiliation (meanness) he feels within himself.“
In this saying, we observe that many of those around us today— the envious, the resentful, and those with vile and narrow hearts— merely reveal the true nature of their souls, the corruption of their minds, the darkness of their hearts, and the malice within them. These traits are but a product of the environment in which they were raised, the traditions they were brought up with, and the bitterness they absorbed from their surroundings.
